In the mass it has, happily, a similar effect to some of Ben Shahn’s beautiful lettered panels (see “If it had not been for these thing,… “). I’ve just used it for a banner publicising our village car boot sale, where it struck the required ramshackle note perfectly. But I think it could be used in a more serious/emotive context by a designer of wit and skill.
